Ayurvedic Beauty Tips For Feet...

Skin on the feet is prone to friction which can be caused due to ill-fitting shoes or faulty style of walking. Corns and calluses get formed when a particular point of foot’s sole is constantly pressurized; skin gets hardened and might cause pain eventually. Daily feet care can help prevent foot problems as scrubbing with a pumice stone can slough off the dead cells.

Given below are some pointers that can be followed to care for your feet:

  • Keep corns and calluses at bay by scrubbing with a pumice stone or a foot scrub which helps in removing dead skin which eventually starts building up becoming hard and thick and causing pain while walking.
  • Moisturize your feet as you take care of any other part of the body. The sole of the feet does not have any oil glands to keep it soft hence a routine to lather it up with cream is essential. If you have extremely dry feet and the skin is cracking up, use a heavy duty moisturizer or petroleum jelly generously on your feet while going to bed at night and cover it up with cotton socks for better absorption.
  • Wear shoes of the right fit as a loose or tight pair can do much harm by not supporting your feet. Shop for new shoes late in the afternoon or evening as some experts believe that our feet tend to swell during the day or late night. Ensure that your toes can wiggle but your heels don’t come out while trying out new shoes.
  • Our feet are prone to fungal infections and to prevent them one has to maintain hygiene. Feet should never be left damp; it should be dried thoroughly especially between the toes. Toenails should cut properly with a nail cutter.
  • If your legs are sore and aching, you can soak them in warm water in which sea salt is added. It soothes pain and calms the nerves.
  • To relax your feet you can massage the sole with soft kneading hands. Gentle rotating movement and soft massages help relax your feet.
  • Avoid high heeled shoes if your heels are paining as it can cause more stress.

What is a Healthy Lifestyle?

Include plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits, low fat protein sources, and whole wheat bread and pasta, and drink at least 8 glasses of water to have a healthy diet.healthy lifestyle is not difficult to do if we really want to enjoy healthyliving. Some of us think that it needs some effort which look like hard to do. It can be true if we do it for the first time, but after for certain time it will easier to do

There Are Some Important Tips For Healthy Living :

• Eat a good variety of fruit and vegetables each day - choose a wide variety of colours to insure a good selection of antioxidants to help fight disease.

• Choose seasonal, locally grown fruit and vegetables to avoid food that has been refrigerated for prolonged periods or irradiated. Freshh food is always going to beat frozen or stored food for nutrition and taste.

• Drink at least 8 glasses of pure water each day to keep your body hydrated. It doesn't matter if it's tap water, bottled water or spring water, but your body will love you for it. It keeps you hydrated and washes away the toxins.

• Walk for twenty minutes each day. Exercise helps to maintain body weight and aids with the removal of toxins.

• Avoid constipation by consuming fibre in your diet and by keeping the body well hydrated. Constipation allows toxins from the bowel to be reabsorbed into the body, potentially leading to disease.

• Laugh regularly - it's good for the soul

Tips To Healthy Eating

Eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods.

You need more than 40 different nutrients for good health, and no single food supplies them all. Your daily food selection should include bread and other whole-grain products; fruits; vegetables; dairy products; and meat, poultry, fish and other protein foods. How much you should eat depends on your calorie needs. Use the Food Guide Pyramid and the Nutrition Facts panel on food labels as handy references.

Enjoy plenty of whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Surveys show most Americans don't eat enough of these foods. Do you eat 6-11 servings from the bread, rice, cereal and pasta group, 3 of which should be whole grains? Do you eat 2-4 servings of fruit and 3-5 servings of vegetables? If you don't enjoy some of these at first, give them another chance. Look through cookbooks for tasty ways to prepare unfamiliar foods. Maintain a healthy weight. The weight that's right for you depends on many factors including your sex, height, age and heredity. Excess body fat increases your chances for high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, some types of cancer and other illnesses. But being too thin can increase your risk for osteoporosis, menstrual irregularities and other health problems. If you're constantly losing and regaining weight, a registered dietitian can help you develop sensible eating habits for successful weight management. Regular exercise is also important to maintaining a healthy weight.

Eat moderate portions. If you keep portion sizes reasonable, it's easier to eat the foods you want and stay healthy. Did you know the recommended serving of cooked meat is 3 ounces, similar in size to a deck of playing cards? A medium piece of fruit is 1 serving and a cup of pasta equals 2 servings. A pint of ice cream contains 4 servings. Refer to the Food Guide Pyramid for information on recommended serving sizes.

Eat regular meals. Skipping meals can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in overeating. When you're very hungry, it's also tempting to forget about good nutrition. Snacking between meals can help curb hunger, but don't eat so much that your snack becomes an entire meal.

Reduce, don't eliminate certain foods. Most people eat for pleasure as well as nutrition. If your favorite foods are high in fat, salt or sugar, the key is moderating how much of these foods you eat and how often you eat them.

Identify major sources of these ingredients in your diet and make changes, if necessary. Adults who eat high-fat meats or whole-milk dairy products at every meal are probably eating too much fat. Use the Nutrition Facts panel on the food label to help balance your choices.

Choosing skim or low-fat dairy products and lean cuts of meat such as flank steak and beef round can reduce fat intake significantly.

If you love fried chicken, however, you don't have to give it up. Just eat it less often. When dining out, share it with a friend, ask for a take-home bag or a smaller portion.

Balance your food choices over time. Not every food has to be "perfect." When eating a food high in fat, salt or sugar, select other foods that are low in these ingredients. If you miss out on any food group one day, make up for it the next. Your food choices over several days should fit together into a healthy pattern.

Know your diet pitfalls. To improve your eating habits, you first have to know what's wrong with them. Write down everything you eat for three days. Then check your list according to the rest of these tips. Do you add a lot of butter, creamy sauces or salad dressings? Rather than eliminating these foods, just cut back your portions. Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? If not, you may be missing out on vital nutrients.

Make changes gradually. Just as there are no "superfoods" or easy answers to a healthy diet, don't expect to totally revamp your eating habits overnight. Changing too much, too fast can get in the way of success. Begin to remedy excesses or deficiencies with modest changes that can add up to positive, lifelong eating habits. For instance, if you don't like the taste of skim milk, try low-fat. Eventually you may find you like skim, too.

Remember, foods are not good or bad. Select foods based on your total eating patterns, not whether any individual food is "good" or "bad." Don't feel guilty if you love foods such as apple pie, potato chips, candy bars or ice cream. Eat them in moderation, and choose other foods to provide the balance and variety that are vital to good health.

Tips For Hair Falling...

Reasons for Hair Loss

Hair is formed in tiny pockets in the skull known as follicles. The upgrowth from follicle is called the papilla. Papilla with the help of a specific group of cells that turn amino acids into keratin, produces hair. Keratin is a type of protein that makes hair. Higher the rate of production of keratin, more will be the hair growth. The rate of production, in turn, depends on the vital nutrients supplied through the diet of a person. If vitamins and other nutrients are provided in sufficient amounts, hair grows at normal rate but if there is a deficiency of vitamins and nutrients then no protein is formed which, on the one hand, stops the growth of hair and on the other hand makes the hair weak leading to hair loss and baldness. Therefore, one of the major reasons of hair loss is deficiency of nutrients.

There are some other reasons for hair loss too.

• Lack of vitamin B6, folic acid, calcium etc

.• Stress

• Prolonged Illness

• Improper or irregular cleaning of hair

• Heredity

• Pollution; environmental hazards

• Application of chemicals on hair ( hair straightening, coloring, hair dyes etc).

• Poor blood circulation

Ayurvedic Dietary Tips for Healthy Hair

Ayurveda recommends a combination of wholesome, fresh natural foods as the best and most effective way of delivering balanced nutrients to your hair. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Also, whole grains and legumes provide nourishment to your hair without putting muchpressure your digestive system.

Ayurvedic Tips For Oil Massage...

  • The effects of massage vary with the time of day. During the day it relaxes and refreshes, giving increased energy. In the evening it is more tranquillising.

  • To be a good masseur, one needs to look at the formation and function of the musculature. One who follows the natural contours and flows of the body ensures the most effective massage.

  • In cold seasons, hot or warm oil should be used and in the hot seasons it is viceversa. The easiest way is to put the oil into a plastic squeeze bottle and then hold it submerged in hot or cold water until it is pleasantly warm or cool according to the situation.

  • Oil should be applied at the joints or marma points in a circular manner, in a clockwise direction. And, on the other body parts, against the direction of the hair growth. This will direct the lymph towards the heart.

  • Before the massage, just relax. Take some deep breaths, and then rub your palms together until they feel warm. This charges the hands with energy and makes them pleasant to touch.

  • If we take the body to be an inverted tree, the brain is the root, the spine is the trunk, and limbs are the branches. So for maximum benefit, massage should commence from the upper leg. It should be massaged first on the outside and then inside. The lower part of the legs should be massaged followed by a foot massage. After this, the hips and sides should be worked with and the lower back should be massaged, moving upwards, covering the upper back. Then the chest and the arms should be massaged. The head should always be massaged last.

  • If daily massage of the whole body is not possible, at least the feet should be massaged every night before sleeping and the head could be given a massage every third day.

A wide range of oils is available for massage. Simple oils that are advised for general massage are sesame oil and mustard oil. Olive oil is also good. But it is too costly to use in our country.

Sesame oil is hot, heavy and sweet. It works on all the three doshas by removing swellings of all muscles, strengthening the skin texture and preventing premature aging. The shape of breasts can be improved by massaging them regularly with this oil. Oil of black sesame seeds is recommended in Ayurveda to keep the hair in good condition. Sesame oil is usually preferred to mustard oil, which may sometimes irritate tender skin because it is pungent and bitter, while sesame oil is neutral.

Apart from this, there are specific oils for specific conditions. For example, Brahmi oil induces sleep. Mahaanarayana taila can be used to treat muscle pains and arthritic conditions. Aswagandhaadi taila can be used in muscle atrophy. In the same way Mahaamarichyaadi taila can be used specifically for controlling itching. These oils can be used on the advice of an Ayurvedic physician.
