Vaccines for Slimming - Have you ever thought about slimming through vaccination? At one point later, slimming body not only be done through diet or calorie restriction. Slim body also may be pursued through the streets of vaccination.
That is now being pursued by scientists in Europe. Last week, experts from Portugal succeeded in developing a similar vaccine that can reduce food intake of animals in laboratory rats. The hope, this vaccine can also be applied to humans and become one of the solutions against the epidemic of obesity in the future.
"After receiving the vaccine, the body produces antibodies against ghrelin, or a type of hormone that causes hunger," said Mariana Monteiro, MD, Ph.D., associate professor at the University of Porto in Portugal.
"This hormone can make a person eat too much because they become more hungry, especially if they limit the number of calories," says Mariana, who published his findings in the association's annual meeting of endocrinologists in Boston, USA.
This vaccine can reportedly make a person eat with a relatively small amount without a shadow of hunger. The mice in the study were in need of food and its share of calories 50 percent lower after being vaccinated, and research has shown that these effects can last up to four years in humans.
This vaccine study in humans does require a fairly long journey, and the presence of this vaccine on the market is estimated to be up to ten years.
